I am a graduate student in Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Louisville’s Speed School of Engineering with a concentration in structural engineering, expected to graduate in May 2026. My experience includes structural analysis and design of steel, reinforced concrete, timber, and composite systems using U.S. design standards such as ACI, AISC, and ASCE 7. I have a good foundation in structural mechanics, load analysis and finite element analysis, supported by hands-on laboratory testing and computational modeling. I am proficient in engineering calculations, technical documentation, and using analysis tools to support safe, code-compliant designs. Originally from Nepal, a region with significant seismic demand, my background has shaped my interest in resilient and performance-based structural design. I am seeking entry-level structural engineering roles where I can contribute to design, analysis, and construction-phase support in a collaborative engineering environment.

Major coursework
Below are the some of the projects that I have involved in.
For my final year project, I analyzed a building under gravity and lateral loads, designed its structural elements, compared manual calculations with software-based analysis, and evaluated buildings with both on-grid and off-grid columns.
I designed a commercial building's reinforced concrete structure using manual calculations, ETABS for analysis, SAFE for footing design, and AutoCAD for construction drawings.
The project involved implementing a shock absorber and base isolation system.
This project was initially showcased at the Lite Technical Exhibition 2018 at Kantipur
Engineering College and subsequently selected for presentation at NCE College.
I designed a residential building for client Surendra in Lalitpur Metropolitan City, comprising a two-and-a-half-story structure. The design involved conducting static analysis and analyzing the building according to the NBC 105:2020, IS codes requirements.
I analyzed a steel roof truss for a building, finalizing steel sections based on ETABS modeling. Wind forces were calculated and applied per IS standards, ensuring the PM ratio values were within acceptable limits.
This role involves ensuring that every step of the rebar installation adheres closely to the detailed project drawings. It also requires carefully overseeing all aspects of concrete work, from checking the correct mix ratios and ensuring the quality of cement used.
It is my pleasure to recommend someone like Bibek Tamang, who is a civil engineer. He was my student during my tenure at Kantipur Engineering College. I have been following Bibek’s work for four years during his undergraduate studies.
I taught him in classes such as Soil Mechanics, Foundational Engineering, and Civil lab projects. I have come to know him very well, having interacted with him in semester lectures. He was keen on learning and was always enthusiastic to know about the engineering behind every structure. He is talent, with a vision for not only advancing in his career, but also seeking out opportunities to lend a hand in research projects.
As the head of Research, Training, and Consultancy Division (RTCD), I had the opportunity to observe his active involvement in the Civil Club, and various projects such as URSA, Smart City-Utopia. His leadership and teamwork skills were particularly evident during organizing technical exhibitions.
Personally, I observed him to be a team worker and his methodological approach to projects placed him in good list on my students. He’s at him best in a group environment and has demonstrated his ability to work on higher research and analysis.
I wish him all the best in his both academic and professional career ahead.
Bibek was my student at the Kantipur Engineering College. I have known Mr. Tamang as his project supervisor in his final year project in his undergraduate. He was assigned as a group leader where he handled all his responsibilites efficiently. His leadership, communication and presentation skills are immpeccable. Based on my experience with Bibek, I am confident that he has the skills, knowledge, and dedication to excel in his future endeavour.
